For the first time in history, employers spent more online than in newspaper. A new study released yesterday reported that employers spent $5.9 billion online in 2006, compared to just $5.4 billion in newspaper. Why:
- The Internet provides greater reach
- The Internet provides better quality
- The Internet provides more quantity
- An ad is posted for a minimum of 30 days compared to 1
- A company brand can be communicated
- The cost is much less for much more
- The Internet can be measured
- Who uses newspaper anymore for a jobsearch?
“Our projections through 2011 do not bode well for traditional recipients of recruitment spending,” stated the report. “Of all forms, the only ones we see growing share over the next five years are online media and recruitment agencies.”
With local job boards such as www.NVJobSearch.com and www.lvchamber.com/careercenter attracting more than 120,000 searches each month, it is easy to understand why employers are placing their help-wanted ads where the job seekers are going.
Isn’t it time to consider the alternative to newspaper?
