Monster Burglary

“ID Attack Widens With 1.6M Records Stolen from Monster.com”

I have been waiting for headlines like these.  It has been happening for years - with most of the burglars being staffing agencies, third-party recruiters, job fair companies, work-from-home companies and credit card companies.

Monster will sell resume database access to damn near anyone who writes them a check, but this time someone took it without permission. (Or without Monster making a profit)

Managing the Monster database has to be one of the most challenging jobs in the world.  Imagine the mass of personal information that resides on the largest job board in existence.  Complete names, e-mail, past residences, work history, references….. enough to complete an employment or credit application.  Now imagine the damage that can be done by someone with the wrong intentions.

Kind of scary, huh?
