Craigslist - Spam/Scam Haven

by doug on April 11, 2008

In the past few weeks several things came across my desk about Craigslist and the ‘volume’ of job postings that are being done on the website.  I usually dispute these numbers and try to explain the difference between real job boards and free boards like Craigslist.

It had been some time since I last visited Craigslist so I went and check out jobs in Las Vegas.  Although you can not see the total number of jobs that appear on the website, it is apparent that they have a lot.

Then I decided to see what types of job postings were being published.   Wow…was I shocked.  All of the ads that Recruiting Nevada flat-out refuse to accept are all over the place.  And to make it worse - there are scammers/spammers recruiting to add more spam/scams to Craigslist list:

As a jobseeker I think I would become aggravated very quick having to wade through a sea of unreal ads to try and find a job applicable to my skill set.

There is something to say for “free” but what does it cost in terms of time?  I wonder.
