Yikes …… there are way to many Las Vegas job fairs being held in 2009.
Recruiting Nevada publishes a calendar of all of the job fairs being held in Las Vegas. It can be found on our blog (here). As most know, we are in the career fair business with our Opportunity Boulevard Career Fair events being held exclusively at the Green Valley Ranch Resort Casino and Spa. We published our 2009 calendar of events mid-2008 scaling back to just four events so we could continue to deliver quality, rather than quantity.
It appears a few of our competitors took the opposite approach, two of them holding job fairs almost every single month. Unfortunately, this damages the image of all job fairs (in the public eye) as most job seekers do not know the difference between the promoters. And when there are four job fairs being held the same month, and each job fair exhibits less employers because of the economy and the dilution created by the over abundance of events, the entire industry is impacted. And job-seekers lose faith.
With the highest unemployment level Las Vegas has seen in over 25 years, now is the time to instill hope and faith with our job-seekers. Opportunity Boulevard has experienced great success from our Lecture Hall series with presenters talking of topics such as resume writing, navigating the government application process and starting a career in health care. We will be expanding our seminars into other topics requested by our job-seekers from the survey conducted after the January event.
