SHRM Line Employment Expectation Reports Job Market is Improving

by doug on September 4, 2009

The September SHRM Line Employment Expectation Report was recently released and here are the key findings:

  • Hiring expectations in September will follow the recent growth pattern
  • There is growing evidence that the job market is improving
  • The rate of increase for new-hire compensation has been falling for nearly one year

Keep in mind that this is a national report and considers all markets.  Las Vegas and Nevada are unique from the rest of the country as we typically brag about resilient to economic slowdowns.  The opposite is true right now.  We have been effected more more than nearly every other market as disposable income has dried up and tourism has plummeted.  Leading analysts expect more jobs in Las Vegas to be lost in the Fall and possibly into 2010.
